Moving Out
«

So in only eight days I am moving to windsor for art school. Its a solid 2 hours away, and I am finally getting my indepandence. I have been ready for some time, being as I already do the bills and take care of the house and my sister. I never enjoyed my highschool life or this town, but I cant help but find myself looking back, playing old games and watching old cartoons.
Anyways I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips to moving out and living on their own?

I'm moving to college on Sunday, so no tips until then!
And even then, they'll just be like "I MISS PARENTAL SUPPORT. I MISS MY DOGS. I MISS HOMETOWN FAMILIARITY."

So, I live two hours away from home as well.
What did I bring to college?
Bedding.
all the fun electronic things I wanted.
Laundry bag.
Detergent.
alarm clock.
Pencils.
Paper.
Binders.
Lamp. <3
Pencil sharpener.
and a LOAD of small things that you can pick up at a dollar store, including, but not limited to-
- Cotton swab thingies
-hand sanitizer (seriously, the best thing to have)
-batteries
-soap
-shampoo
-tissues
-mouthwash
-toothpaste
-toothbrush.
Yeah, I think that's all I brought.
It's serving me well.

Bring your own sheets and pillowcases. That's a must.
Only bring enough miscellaneous things as are fitting to be in your space. I'm currently dealing with several boxes of things from when I was a kid that I have no room for.
Make sure you have somewhere to put everything, otherwise a mess will ensue. It sometimes helps if you have a set place to put things (like shoes by the door, book bag by your work area, et al).
If you have room or housemates, get to know them. If you ever get locked out, or you're short on food for a couple of days, they can be your best friends.

My brother lives with roommates.
One of them was lazy, never did anything to help, and had a bad temper. Broke the closet door.
He's gone now.
But yeah, check with your roommates and make sure they're cool. If you ever get any.

All you'll need is a suitcase full of condoms. That's it.

I really loathe the idea of roommates. I just want to have a rich career now so I don't have to deal with that #####e.

Neither is partying and drinking, but then that's really only bad if it's exam time.
Glad to hear you're doing alright.
Oh, and make sure you line up a job while you're there, Q. Intern or co-op or something. That way you'll be able to stay in town or move elsewhere and get a job, and not wind up in my lovely situation.
