I've never played X7, X8, (I guess I should be thankful?) or Command Mission. But since the apparently horrible X7 is out of the question for me, I'm gonna have to say X3. I do like it, but out of all of the ones I played, that's my least favorite.

X3 is my least favorite of the SNES games.  I watned to like it, but it's just not as good as 1 and 2.  Music was bleah, Sigma was fail, secret armor was #####.  Stage design wasn't bad, but just not up to par with 1 and 2.

Yeah, X2 had some really cool stage design. And I love how the Sigma battle can be neaten in one try. X2 is defiantly my favorite. (I know, wrong thread.)

Megaman X4 Hands down. Loved the cinematics. Only problem was X's voice actor.

Oh come on.  He clearly said the only problem in X4 was X's voice.  That's MUCH worse than say, X6's horrid nightmare #####, X7's in it's entierety, Axl, or X8's awful stage design and general direction.

I don't think anyone who played X7 can honestly say any of the other games were worse.  And not be lying.  Or dead inside.  Or suffering from an extreme learning disorder.

Yeh I have and do own X7 still. It was pretty bad as well. I still need to get X8 but have been lacking it because of a pc game im addicted to. If any of you played X8 is it better or as bad?

It depends.  If you're just straight up comparing X8 to X7, then good lord, yes it's better.  Though you have to quantify that by saying just because it's better than X7 doesn't mean it was a good game.  It has a whole host of issues that are just as bad as some of X7's sins and I can say that even with X5 and X6's issues, both were MUCH better games than X8.

After playing X7, X8 was like a breath of fresh air.
Still not a very good game (maybe not a bad one, either); I tend to equate it to X6.

Playable, has some cool stuff, fun things to do, but also has more than enough problems to make you want to not play it again for a long while.

I can't compare X8 to X6, unless you mean the story. The story is horrid.

But in terms of gameplay and enjoyment, it was nice and welcoming. Aside from the fact that 2 of the stages were gimmicky junk, it was enjoyable to play. It's definitely better than X6 and X7.

I'd say it's close to X5 with me. Last time I played X5, I got a little bored and a little annoyed, but that's because there are some similar problems. Thing about X5 though, the storyline is less crap, since Inafune actually wanted X5 to exist, unlike anything beyond X6.

Your best bet in the whole series is X1-X4. I only suggest X5 and X8 to those who want a little more. X6 was a disappointment, and I own X7 but haven't played it all through. It just sits on my shelf as a collection item basically.

But to be fair, I'm aware that's like taking dog poop, putting it on a base, calling it a trophy, and then placing it in glass for all to admire.

They're both... playable. X7 isn't. You don't even wanna do all the endings. You beat Sigma and then you just drop the controller and then you're out. Smarter people than me dropped the controller before that.

I might find time for X5 or X6 or X8 somewhere in my life, but I'd still rather go back and do the other games for my fix.
Still, I played each of those an equal amount.

ONLY 2?  Sorry, try again.  Almost EVERY stage was a #####ing gimmick.  Teleport Maze stage?  Mini Game Cyber Space Stage?  Get chased by Giant Robot Stage?  LOL Stealth Stage?  X8 had the worst stage design in the series outside of X7's 3D mess.

Compare X8 stages to comprable ones in other games.  Optic Sunflower vs Cyber Peacock.  Peacock's stage was still a quick and enjoyable action romp through each section.  Sunflower had tedius stop and clear the room for 2 minute mini games that just killed any sense of progression.  Infinity Mijwhateverthe#####hewas vs Earthshock Trilobyte.  Sure, Infinity's stage was annoying, but it was stright forward mostly action.  Trilobyte is back and foreth stop and go bull #####.  It goes on and on but you get the point I'm trying to make.  While a lot of what X8 did had been done before, the fact X8 did it so POORLY contributed to the awful stage desgin and execution.

Then you play that, snow level, I forget who was the boss. That was a huge disappointment.
